My budgie has had crusty bits on both sides of his beak. He keeps fluffing up to is he unwell ?

I have only had him a few months but since i got him every now and then his bottom pushes out when he is having a poo is he ill.

Antwort: Unfortunately this sounds like signs of illness. Crusty bits on the sides of the beak could be either burrowing mites or vomit. If his feathers seem to be clotted it is probably vomit. For an article concerning the mites take a look here: Burrowing mitesThe fluffing of the feathers is also a sign for illness and if he has problems during defeacation this is also a sign for illness. Here is an article concerning the consistency of the droppings, maybe it helps to see more symptoms:

You should consider going to an avian vet with your bird. Seeing an avian vet instead of a normal vet is important because normal vets often dont have the proper education to deal with the illnesses of birds.

I hope he gets well, soon!
